Why do Penpals with your students or group?
Our student/group memberships have always been an important part of IPF. Writing to penpals is a fun way for students/groups to gain a deeper understanding of subjects like history, geography, languages, etc. Above all, students have the opportunity to discover the cultures of foreign lands.
As the friendship develops between correspondents, the possibility of exchange visits can be explored, which adds another dimension to the penpal experience.
Memberships for groups:
S1 Membership – for 10 students, aged 10-17
Each student receives a unique list of 4 names and addresses of IPF members in their age group. The name and address of each student in the group will also be passed along to 10 other IPF members during the 12-month membership period. This provides each student the opportunity to receive surprise introductory letters from other IPF members in their age group. The lists are sent to the teacher for distribution.
S2 Membership – for 20 students, aged 10-17
This has the same parameters as the S1 membership. Please complete TWO Form 700E (10 names on each form) and send to IPF Penpals.
S3 Membership – for 30 students, aged 10-17
This has the same parameters as the S1 membership. Please complete THREE of the Form 700E (10 names on each form) and send to IPF-North America.
We highly recommend students purchase a copy of IPF's digital magazine, People and Places (choose DM on the application form). This is a fun and informative way for students to stay in touch with the penpal world. There are competitions with each issue and a prize of $200 US for the best article published in each issue.
Teachers who enroll a class/group are entitled to 50% off regular individual membership.
